Your TMJ, or temporomandibular joint, involves the joints on either side of your head that connect the lower jaw (the mandible) to the skull. It is a somewhat complex joint in that it must be able to hinge open and shut, as well as slide from side to side in order for us to use it for tasks like talking, chewing, and yawning.
